Leopard geckos make a good first time lizard due to their naturally docile nature and their simple care requirements. They are a nocturnal ground dwelling lizard found across the deserts of Asia and throughout Pakistan where their native habitat would be rocky desert or dry grasslands.

Leopard geckos, unlike most geckos, possess moveable eyelids. They are quite a large gecko, growing to 25cm in length and can live for up to 20 years. As they grow, leopard geckos will shed their skin and will often eat this skin as a way to recycle proteins and vitamins. When threatened leopard geckos may detach their tail, however like most other geckos it will regrow though at great expense of biological resources.
