The Caribbean Hermit Crab is a species of hermit crab native to the West Atlantic, Bahamas, Florida, Venezuela, the Virgin Islands and the West Indies. They can be found some distance inland and will burrow under tree roots. They are primarily herbivorous but are also scavengers feeding on animal and plant remains and faeces of other animals. They can be added to certain animal enclosures and may help to keep the tank cleaner for longer!
