Country of Origin: Angola
The Orange Baboon tarantula is an old-word species found throughout Africa, in Angola as well as central, eastern and southern Africa. Females grow larger than males and may reach a leg span of 15cm. Orange Baboons are a terrestrial burrowing species and will either dig their own burrow or use an abandoned one. They will lay silk threads across the entrance to their burrow which detect vibrations from any passing prey. They have no urticating hairs but are very defensive and will bite if they feel threatened. Their venom is potent and will produce a painful but not serious bite.
